What on Earth Do These Juergen Teller Photos Represent?

Fashion is an expression of personality, whether clad in a Carhartt jacket or Saint Laurent suit. While some fashion can be utilitarian, others can add an absurdist edge to “high fashion” photography such as that done by Juergen Teller.

Teller made his mark as an art and fashion photographer – I particularly enjoy his “amateur aestheticien” images such as of Kate Moss or Marc Jacobs after getting buff.

The Wall Street Journal Magazine recently hired Teller to do a cover shoot with rapper A$AP Rocky, best known for being sent to prison in Sweden for assaulting an 18-year old with criminal record. While I can offer no opinions regarding their legal battles, let’s talk about these photos!

Photography can vary greatly depending on who is behind the camera, making it impossible for one person to like every type of photography. Perhaps my tastes reflect my preferences in photography; otherwise, could someone please tell me what’s good about these pictures?
